If you are a Realtor in one of the following situations then you should not read this article: you are planning your retirement party; you have a huge and lucrative sphere of influence which is a cash machine in good or bad real estate cycles; you have a spouse (man/woman) partner who makes the money and real estate is a fun hobby just to kill some time; finally if you already author a blog and understand the benefits of this marketing phenomenon.

For the rest of you out there who are struggling to survive the mortgage meltdown and ensuing real estate industry slowdown, this article may help you. Without wasting time and in the simplest language possible, blogging is and will be the most important tool you must implement in order to survive and thrive in this industry.

What is a blog? A blog is simply a web site which features articles written by it’s owner. Also known as “citizen journalism”, blogging is the newest most powerful method to attract new clients, provide valuable information to your target audience, start your law of attraction “engine”, and create a living moving “resume” of who you are and what you do as a industry professional.

Google is like today’s version of the old “Yellow Pages.” In the old days, a Realtor could buy an ad and it would sit in the directory where clients would look. In today’s world that directory is google and your placement is a moving experience. No not emotionally but rather your search rank can go up or down depending upon a number of factors. Consequently your survival moving forward depends heavily upon your current traditional marketing efforts AND your next generation online marketing efforts: blogging.

Consequently the choice to blog is rapidly becoming no choice at all. Those Realtors and professionals who blog will have huge advantage over those who do not decide to establish their “google” presence.
